Simone Bibbs is a senior from Lexington, Kentucky, majoring in psychology and minoring in cello performance and Spanish. She is a member of the UK Symphony Orchestra, Young Democratic Socialists of America, Psychology Student Association, Black Student Union, and UK Feminist Alliance. This is Simone’s second year as a research assistant in Dr. Brown’s lab and she is especially excited to learn more about racial and gender discriminatory experiences among children and adolescents. After graduating, she plans to attend graduate school and study developmental psychology.

Peter McCauley 
is a senior studying Psychology and Linguistics and minoring in Spanish from Lexington, KY. This is his second year working in Dr. Brown’s lab, and he has a strong research interest in discrimination toward the LGBTQ+ community and how linguistic theory overlaps with that. After graduation, he hope to continue on to graduate school and later work at an LGBTQ center and offer counseling.

Payton Sinkbeil is a senior at UK from outside of Philadelphia. She is a Pre-Law student pursuing dual-degrees in Political Science and Psychology with a minor in Criminology. She is a member of Alpha Alpha Alpha, UK’s first generation honors society. She also belongs to Phi Sigma Pi, an honors fraternity in which she holds the positions of Brother at Large and Parliamentarian. Her research interests include the formation of biases in children and the role they play in their adult life. Upon graduation, she plans to attend law school and earn her J.D. in order to begin her career as an attorney.

Natalie Vincent is from St. Louis, Missouri, and she is a senior at UK majoring Psychology and Political Science. In her second year with Dr. Brown’s lab, she continues to look forward to learning about the development of racial and gender biases. She is interested in applications of positive psychology as well as self-concept development in young girls. After graduation, she wants to go to graduate school to study I/O psychology.

Marissa Bloomer
is a junior from Louisville, Kentucky majoring in Psychology. This is her first year as a research assistant in Dr. Brown’s lab and she is excited to learn about and research racial and gender biases in children. After graduating, she plans on pursuing a PhD program in clinical psychology and provide services for children.

Karman Bruner is from Georgetown, Kentucky and is a senior at UK majoring in Psychology. She is a member of the Psychology Student Association (PSA), NeuroCATS, and Camp Kesem. Her research interests include how gender bias is developed and the role it plays in psychosocial factors as well as how a diagnosis affects a child and those in their lives. After graduation Karman plans to attend grad school to study developmental psychology and behavior analysis.


Mallory

Mallory Kincaid is a junior psychology major from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Her research interests are in learning the relationships between poverty, race, and split households and how it impacts children’s development into their young adult years. After graduation, she hopes to pursue graduate school so that one day she can provide counseling to children and adolescents.


Coy Martinez

Julie Coy Martinez is a senior Psychology major with a minor in English from Lexington, KY. She is a member of PSI CHI and University of Kentucky Women’s Club Scholarship recipient. Her future career interests are examining the effects of disproportionate identification of learning disabilities among minority students. She plans to attend graduate school for school psychology.

Katie Welsh is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is a senior psychology student, with a double minor in Spanish and Gender and Women Studies. After undergrad Katie hopes to continue on to graduate school to continue her studies in psychology with emphasis on working with youth and adolecents. This is Katie’s first year in Dr. Brown’s lab, and she is looking forward to learning more about discrimination toward young girls and how it effects their ambition.
